I got two lemon drop thingies on the second show cus it was vodka and lemoncello, but I also have a vodka lemonade here with me…will I post this? Who knows! If you are reading this then it must be somewhat coherent! Unless it’s posted at 3am Chicago time.
The alcohol definitely let me enjoy his set more the second time. WAIT, that sounds backhanded. I just mean because of my nerves. I never drink but weirdly this felt like a legitimate practical use.

If I can untangle the more objective parts – first, the supporting comedians were all uniquely talented. They all had a distinct voice while hitting the same comedic chord. I’m glad Danny is surrounding himself with people who have a love of and talent for the craft of stand up specifically. With this show it seems like he’s striking a balance between putting in the hours to learn the nuances of the medium, and giving his audience a chance to take that journey with him. All in all the crowds were respectful, with a few awkward exceptions. People seemed to be on especially good behavior for Danny. I did notice his pace was pretty fast and he seemed to deliberately leave no room for audience interjection. I’m curious if he would incorporate crowd work at some point, or if he’s tried before. He’s talked about being very shy often, I just wonder if talking at the audience and them being a laugh track is more his happy place. To be fair, even without the shyness, just being a YouTuber adds an extra risk of weirdness in audience input.
I gave a drawing and some stickers to the guy working the merch table. I did not expect how much it would sting for it to just slip into the ether. If it’s meant to get to him, it will, and the point for me was the enjoyment of drawing. That was the understanding at every stage of making it. Yet, that 5 year old part of me keeps coming up and tugging on my sleeve, “so? Did he see it? Did he like it? Was he happy?”

Either way, there was clearly a ton of consideration put into the execution of this event, which led to its success. I couldn’t ask for more. I hope Danny feels encouraged by this, and I hope there were trusted peers watching, who can give him useful critique and advice. If I could stick one sentence in a bottle and chuck it his way, I would just say, “thank you, it was a dream come true – keep going.”
