the metaverse failed, but roblox is becoming the metaverse

I created a tag for the roblox stuff, for those of you borrowers who are enjoying the red yarning: ROBLOX TAG

Laura told me she hates that I have this tendency to post many finished illustrations in one IG post, because it makes it harder to share. Perhaps I’ll try keeping things bite-sized and focused. The roblox saga continues, but the new picture emerging on the red yarn corkboard is: while Mark Zuckerberg could not get adult buy-in for a new platform, he can take the platform that has its hooks in every single kid – on some level – and transform it into the metaverse he controls.

I like the way this guy writes, and he is much more perceptive than other creators I’ve seen. This missing piece is still the realization that the people who own and create this platform have any interest other than exploiting children as brazenly as possible.
